Terms of Service
Last updated: September 13, 2026
By accessing or using Tattoo Pain Scale at tattoopainscale.com (the “Site”), you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Who we are
Tattoo Pain Scale is a free, browser-based tattoo pain chart and set of reference guides. The Site is operated by the Tattoo Pain Scale team (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
2. Use of the Site
The chart and content on this Site are provided for informational and educational purposes only. You are free to use them for personal, non-commercial planning.
You agree not to:
- Scrape, copy, or republish the Site’s chart, code, or content without permission
- Use the Site in any way that violates applicable laws
- Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Site’s operation
3. Accuracy of the pain scores
We take care to keep our pain scores fair and useful, but pain is individual. The scores on this Site are a relative scale drawn from the broad consensus of people who have sat through these placements, plus the anatomy behind them. They are estimates of how a placement typically feels — not a prediction of what you will experience.
Your own experience shifts with your pain tolerance, your artist and their technique, the size and detail of the piece, how long you sit, and how well you slept and ate. Always apply your own judgment, and talk to your tattoo artist about placement and what to expect.
We are not responsible for how a tattoo feels, heals, or turns out.
4. Not medical advice
The information on this Site is for general education only. It is not medical advice, it is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional, and it must not be used to diagnose, treat or manage any health condition.
Getting tattooed breaks the skin and carries real risks — infection, allergic reaction, scarring, and complications that are more serious for some people than others. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a skin condition, a bleeding disorder, diabetes, a compromised immune system, or take medication that affects bleeding or healing, speak to your doctor before getting tattooed. Always use a licensed, reputable artist who follows proper hygiene, and follow their aftercare instructions.
5. Affiliate links
Some pages on this Site contain affiliate links — links to products on Amazon or other retailers. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions help keep the Site free.
We only link to products we believe are relevant and useful. Affiliate relationships do not influence the pain scores or editorial content on this Site.
6. Email list
We offer an optional email newsletter. By subscribing, you agree to receive periodic emails from us about new guides, tools and site updates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.
We will not sell or share your email address with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Intellectual property
All original content on this Site — including the pain chart, its scores, written guides, and design — is owned by Tattoo Pain Scale or its contributors. You may not reproduce or distribute this content commercially without written permission.
8. Third-party services
The Site uses third-party services including analytics providers and hosting infrastructure. These services have their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tattoo Pain Scale shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or its content.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be noted by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
